Bangkok’s MahaNakhon Tower situated in the busy Sathorn business district is more than just another flashy skyscraper that complements the city’s skyline. Officially opened to the public in late 2016, MahaNakhon which means ‘The Great Metropolis’ (in Thai) is distinctive for several reasons. If you haven’t made a visit yet, here’s why you should definitely stop by –
The MahaNakhon Tower Is Bangkok’s Tallest Building
Baiyoke Tower II was originally Bangkok’s tallest building (304 m) but is now the second tallest after the completion of the MahaNakhon Tower (314 m). The 77 floor skyscraper also has a completely unique façade with bands of three-dimensional architectural pixels cutting into the structure at intervals. Not only is it eye-catching from the outside, but the pixel design contributes internally to the building’s many protruding glass skyboxes that offer majestic views. Photo buffs will have plenty of opportunities to capture striking selfies and shots of the city.
It Has Thailand’s Tallest Observation Deck
Where else can you walk on a transparent glass sky tray that’s 314 m off the ground and observe the city between your feet? The observation deck at the tower offers a cantilevered glass floor (sky tray) that extends out from the structure, giving visitors who dare to venture there the illusion that they are literally strolling over Bangkok city. Aside of this thrill, visitors can experience spectacular panoramic views of the city that encompass the Chao Phraya river, Bang Krachao (Bangkok’s green lungs) and major city landmarks. (The Observation Deck is scheduled to be open to the public in Q4 2017).
It Has Thailand’s Highest Sky Bar
The rooftop bar at the MahaNakhon Tower that’s also scheduled to be opened in Q4 2017 will be the city’s highest rooftop bar when it launches. Visitors will get the chance to enjoy an unforgettable dining experience from the 76th and 77th floors of the tower. Once it’s open, the Sky bar will rival the best sky bars in the city, namely the Moon Bar at the Banyan Tree Hotel and the Sky bar of Hangover fame at the Lebua Hotel.
Stay In The Glitzy Bangkok Edition Hotel
Set to open in late 2017, the Bangkok Edition hotel at the MahaNakhon Tower will offer guests the chance to stay in a world class boutique hotel in the center of Bangkok. Guests will have 154 rooms to choose from and the chance to dine in two signature restaurants backed by internationally known celebrity chefs.
